News Release October 3, 2008 Alcohol Suspected in Double Fatality Crash
On October 3, 2008 at about 1:17 am, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash which resulted in the death of two Jonesboro men. The crash occurred on LA 4 near the LA 811 intersection in Jackson Parish. A 1996 Toyota 4-Runner was traveling east on LA 4 when it ran off the right side of the roadway. The driver then overcorrected and the Toyota crossed back over the highway and rolled several times. The driver and the occupant were ejected from the vehicle in the crash. The driver, identified as 28 year old Joshua Folden from Jonesboro, was pronounced dead on the scene from injuries he sustained in the crash. His passenger, identified as 28 year old Joshua C. Staples from Jonesboro, was also pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson Parish Coroner's Office. Neither victim was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol use is suspected to be a factor and toxicology tests are pending.
Driving while impaired and not wearing a seat belt remain as the leading causes of all traffic related fatalities. In Louisiana alone, hundreds of lives could be saved each year if motorists would buckle-up and not drive impaired. Always wear your seat belt and properly restrain children. Never drive impaired or ride with someone who has been drinking or taking drugs.
In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated forty (40) fatal crashes resulting in forty-four (44) deaths. For More Information, Contact:
