State Police Investigate Double Fatality in Richland Parish

On August 31, 2008 at about 2:20 am, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash which resulted in the death of the driver and his passenger. The crash occurred on LA 15 (milepost 119.5) just west of Archibald in Richland Parish. A 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling south when the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road. The Tahoe rolled over several times and ejected the driver and his occupant.

The driver, identified as 23 year old Joshua G. Thompson from Winnsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries he sustained in the crash. The passenger has been identified as 29 year old Landon W. Abbitt from Winnsboro. She was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol use is suspected to be a factor and toxicology tests are pending.

In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated thirty-six (36) fatal crashes resulting in thirty-nine (39) deaths.
