News Release March 3, 2009 Union Parish Fatal Crash
A Farmerville man has died in a single vehicle crash in Union Parish.
The crash occurred on LA Hwy 15 (mile post 158.7), just north of the Ouachita Parish line, just after 3:00 am this morning. A 2004 GMC truck was traveling south on LA 15 and was approaching a right hand curve when, for unknown reasons, it ran off the right side of the road. After leaving the roadway, the truck struck a tree and came to rest.
The driver, identified as 56 year old John T Therence from Farmerville, was extricated from the vehicle, but died from injuries he sustained in the crash. Therence was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and alcohol use is not suspected, but routine toxicology tests are pending.
