Serious Injury Crash in Caldwell Parish |

News Release April 14, 2009 Serious Injury Crash in Caldwell Parish
A Columbia man was seriously injured in an early morning crash in Caldwell Parish.
The crash occurred on LA Hwy 126 about one and a half miles west of Columbia on April 14, 2009 at about 6:30 am. A 2008 Toyota Scion was traveling east on LA 126 when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway. The vehicle then struck several trees before coming to rest.
The driver, identified as 22 year old Cody D. Varnell from Columbia, was trapped in the vehicle following the crash and had to be extricated by emergency responders. Varnell was transported to Citizens Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Varnell was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
