News Release April 15, 2009 Head-on Crash Kills One and Injures Another in Union Parish
A Farmerville woman has died in a two vehicle crash in Union Parish.
The crash occurred on LA Hwy 15 (mile post 167.3) about 10 miles north of the Ouachita Parish line. Troop F Troopers responded to the crash at about 7:30 am this morning and learned that one driver had died and the other was seriously injured.
A 2007 Dodge Ram truck was traveling north on LA 15 when, for unknown reasons, the driver crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2001 Daewoo car head-on. After the impact, the Dodge truck rolled one time and came to rest on its tires. The Daewoo continued for a short distance before coming to rest in the southbound travel lane.
The driver of the Daewoo, identified as 31 year old Michelle Tucker from Farmerville, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union Parish Coroner's Office.
The driver of the Dodge, identified as 33 year old Jarrod Crain from Columbia, LA, was air lifted to the LSU-Shreveport Hospital with critical injuries.
Tucker was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash. Crain was not wearing his seat belt and alcohol use is unknown. Routine toxicology tests are pending.
The crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
