Unrestrained Oak Grove Man Killed in West Carroll Crash

An Oak Grove man has died in a single-vehicle crash in West Carroll Parish.

The crash occurred on LA Hwy 2, milepost 177.3, approximately one mile west of Oak Grove. The crash occurred around 8:00 pm on the evening of Wednesday, April 22, 2009.

A 1983 Ford pick-up truck, driven by 58 year-old Jerry R. Johnston of Oak Grove, was traveling west on LA Hwy 2 when, for unknown reasons, it departed the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a bridge rail on private property and struck a tree as it continued to rotate and partially ejected the unrestrained driver.

Johnston was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnston was not wearing his seat belt and alcohol use is unknown. Routine toxicology tests are pending.

In 2009, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated ten (10) fatal crashes resulting in eleven (11) deaths.
