News Release February 21, 2009 Alcohol Use and Lack of Seat Belt Contributes to Fatal Crash
A Tennessee man died Friday night in a one vehicle crash in western Ouachita Parish.
The crash occurred on LA 3033 (milepost 4.5) on February 20, 2009 at about 11:40 pm. A 2003 Chevrolet truck was traveling north when the driver lost control of the vehicle in a curve and ran off the right side of the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the truck rolled over and ejected the unrestrained driver.
The driver was identified as 20 year old John A. Swindle from Parsons, TN. Swindle was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner's Office. Swindle was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and alcohol use is suspected.
Impaired driving and failure to wear a seat belt remain the leading causes of fatality crashes in Louisiana. The Louisiana State Police wants to remind motorist to always buckle up and properly restrain children. Don't drive while impaired on alcohol or drugs and don't ride with anyone who is. These simple steps may save your life.
In 2009, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated six (6) fatal crashes resulting in seven (7) deaths. Contact Information,
