News Release December 16, 2008 Juvenile Driver Dies in Union Parish Crash On December 15, 2008 at about 5:45 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a sixteen year old driver. The crash occurred on Ruggs Bluff Rd off of LA 522 in Union Parish. A 2004 Pontiac Grand Am was traveling west on Ruggs Bluff Rd when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the road. After leaving the roadway, the Pontiac struck a tree and came to rest. The driver, identified as 16 year old Colby Roberson from West Monroe, was transported to Union General Hospital where he died from injuries he sustained in the crash.
Roberson was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and he did not have a valid driver's license. Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology tests are pending.
In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated forty-six (46) fatal crashes resulting in fifty-two (52) deaths. For More Information, Contact:
