Edmonson, Superintendent News Release December 18, 2008 10:10 am Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled for Saturday Night In Louisiana alone, almost half of all fatality crashes involve impaired drivers. To combat impaired driving in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop F will team up with the Monroe Police Department to conduct a sobriety checkpoint this Saturday, December 20, 2008. The checkpoint will be in the Monroe City Limits from approximately 10:00 pm to 4:00 am, weather and traffic conditions permitting. The mission of the departments involved will be to intercept and incarcerate impaired drivers before they cause injury to themselves, their passengers or members of the public. Drivers are less likely to drive impaired when they recognize the increased probability of law enforcement action. There is no excuse for driving while impaired and violators will be arrested.
