Child Safety Seat Check Scheduled

In order to promote the awareness of child passenger safety, Louisiana State Police, Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, the City of Monroe and multiple other partners are sponsoring a child seat check-up event as part of the “Public Safety Expo” at the Monroe Civic Center on Saturday, July 12, 2008 from 10 AM to 3 PM. This portion will be held outdoors.

Louisiana statistics show 9 out of every 10 child seats are not installed correctly and have at least two errors. This misuse rate can be attributed to the great variety of child seats available, the great range of children's weights and heights, and the array of vehicles in today's market. These misuses span all races, educational levels, and socioeconomic status.

To lower the misuse rate, nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will be on-hand for free evaluations and to provide educational information for parents and caregivers.

Rain or Shine! No Appointment Necessary!
