| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release July 3, 2008 Public Safety Expo The Louisiana State Police will be hosting a public safety expo at the Monroe Civic Center on July 12, 2008 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. There will be informational booths, displays, and demonstrations from many different public safety agencies. This event is free to everyone and will be an opportunity for the public to meet and talk to different public safety related organizations about their role in this community’s safety. The event will include seat belt safety (full-size roll-over demos), fire safety, bicycle safety (free helmets for kids), 911 system, boating safety, police K-9 units, police motorcycle units, mobile police command units, police boats, impaired driving demos(fatal vision goggles), bomb units, traffic enforcement, helicopters (police and medical), EMS units, SWAT demos, free car seat checks, and many other demonstrations from numerous different agencies. This event has been made possible from numerous contributions, but special thanks go out to the city of Monroe and the Monroe Civic Center for providing an ideal (air-conditioned!) location for this event. The Louisiana Trooper’s Foundation, the Louisiana State Trooper’s Association, the Louisiana State Fire Marshall’s Office were instrumental in providing resources and funding so this event could be offered free to the public. Events like this one have been very successful in other areas of the state. This is the first such event in this area and we hope that it is educational, informational, and entertaining for the attendees. There will be giveaways, door prizes, and refreshments.
