On February 24, 2008 at 8:20 am, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash which resulted in the death of a Tallulah woman. The crash occurred on US Hwy 80 at milepost 169.8, just east of Waverly, in Madison Parish. A 1995 Buick Lesabre was traveling west on Hwy 80 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle suddenly swerved across the center line and ran off the left side of the roadway. The Buick came to rest after hitting a large tree. The driver, identified as 22 year old Lauren Ann Johnson from Tallulah, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison Parish Coroners office. Johnson was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor and seat belt use is unknown. In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated eight (8) fatal crashes resulting in nine (9) deaths.
