Unrestrained Driver Dies in Jackson Parish Crash

On March 27, 2008 at 6:00 pm, Louisiana State Police Troopers investigated a one vehicle fatality crash in Jackson Parish. The crash occurred on LA 147 at mile post 7.7 when a northbound 1995 Ford pick-up ran off the right side of the road. The driver then apparently over corrected the vehicle and reentered the roadway in a counter clockwise spin. The truck then ran off the left side of the road and struck a dirt embankment. The driver, identified as 45 year old Carolyn Leedy from Jonesboro, was not wearing her safety belt and was totally ejected from the truck in the crash. Leedy was transported to the Jackson Parish Hospital where she died as a result of injuries she sustained in the crash.

Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor, but routine toxicology tests are pending.

In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated fourteen (14) fatal crashes resulting in fifteen (15) deaths.
