X-Box Excitement Leads to Arrest of Fugitive |
LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE News Release February 18, 2008
X-Box Excitement Leads to Arrest of Fugitive
On February 18, 2008, just after midnight, Louisiana State Troopers at Troop F received a phone call from a concerned citizen regarding a disturbing phone call she had received. The citizen stated that she received a phone call from an unknown male who stated "I have killed them all!" The concerned citizen provided troopers with the name and phone number as it appeared on her caller id. The phone number had a Baton Rouge area code and, through extensive research, troopers were able to associate the name and number with an address in Delhi, LA. Louisiana State Troopers and Officer's from the Delhi Police Department went to the Delhi address where they made contact with Thomas Ballard, a 29 year old male. Ballard explained to the troopers that he was calling a friend to tell him that he had killed all the "bad guys" on an X-Box game and was excited to share the news with his friend. Troopers checked the residence and determined that there were no indications of foul play. As they checked the area, the Troop F Dispatcher found an outstanding warrant for Thomas Ballard. The warrant was over five years old and was out of the Baton Rouge area for Failure to Appear on a Possession of Cocaine charge. Ballard was arrested without incident and booked into the Richland Parish Detention Center pending extradition to Baton Rouge.
