| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE News Release January 24, 2008 West Monroe Man Charged in Death of Passenger On January 23, 2008 at about 10:00 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash which resulted in the death of the passenger. The crash occurred on LA 151 at mile post 52 in western Ouachita Parish. A 1999 Buick was traveling north on LA 151 when the vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck several trees and caught on fire. The driver, identified as Kyle B. Mathus, 20 years of age from West Monroe, was partially ejected from the vehicle in the crash, but suffered only minor injuries. The passenger, identified as 24 year old Charles M. Henderson from West Monroe, was transported to LSU Medical Center-Shreveport where he later died from injuries he sustained in the crash. Seat belts were not used by Mathus or Henderson and alcohol use is suspected to be a factor in the crash. After Mathus was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital, he was arrested a booked at the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center for Negligent Homicide, Failure to Wear a Safety Belt, and Altering a Driver's License. In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated six (6) fatal crashes resulting in six (6) deaths.
