A 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling north on Cook Rd when, for unknown reasons, it suddenly veered off the right side of the road. The car left the road and struck a tree, completely ejecting the unrestrained driver. The driver, identified as 16 year old Kristi Yates of Oak Grove, was transported to the West Carroll Parish Hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries. Yates was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash and alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor. The Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to buckle up when riding in a motor vehicle. It doesn't matter how far you are going or where you are. Seat belts will save your life! In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated fifteen (15) fatal crashes resulting in sixteen (16) deaths.
