News Release June 14, 2008 Pedestrian Dies in Ouachita Parish Crash
On June 14, 2008 at about 2:14 am, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in western Ouachita Parish. The crash occurred in the 500 block of LA 3033(Washington St) when a pedestrian was struck by a southbound 2002 Ford van as she attempted to cross the street. The pedestrian was transported to the Glenwood Regional Medical Center where she died as a result of injuries she sustained in the crash. At this time, the pedestrian has not been identified. Louisiana State Troopers and the Ouachita Parish Coroner's office are in the process of identifying the victim.
The driver of the Ford van, identified as 77 year old Marie Simons from West Monroe, was not injured in the crash.
Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology tests are pending. No citations were issued in this incident.
In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated twenty-five (25) fatal crashes resulting in twenty-six (26) deaths. For More Information, Contact:
