On June 15, 2008 at about 4:15 am, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a Wisner man. The crash occurred on LA 562 (mile post 10), four miles west of LA 873, in Franklin Parish. A 2007 Ford truck was traveling east on LA 562 when, for unknown reasons, the driver crossed the center line and entered the westbound travel lane. The driver then over corrected back across the eastbound lane and ran off the right side of the road where the truck entered a ditch. The truck rolled several times before striking a sign and coming to rest. The driver, identified as 21 year old Nathaniel H. Haring from Wisner, LA, was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Haring transported to the Franklin Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from injuries he sustained in the crash.
Alcohol use is suspected to be a factor in the crash and toxicology tests are pending.
