Motorcycle Hits ATV Resulting in Death of Driver

On May 31, 2008 at about 8:55 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a two vehicle fatal crash involving a motorcycle and an ATV. The crash occurred on Union Church Rd. east of Baskin in Franklin Parish when the driver of a 2004 Honda Foreman ATV stopped in the west bound lane of the road to talk to the driver of another vehicle which was stopped on the east bound shoulder. A 2001 Harley Davidson was traveling west on Union Church Rd and rear ended the stopped ATV.

The driver of the Harley Motorcycle, identified as 47 year old Sidney Odom from Mangham, was transported to the Delhi hospital where he was pronounced dead from injuries he sustained in the crash. Odom was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver of the ATV, identified as 59 year old Billy Wright from Winnsboro, was transported to the Franklin Medical Center with serious injuries. Wright was cited for riding an ATV on the roadway.

While alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, routine toxicology tests are pending.

In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated twenty-two (22) fatal crashes resulting in twenty-three (23) deaths.
