TROOP A NEWS RELEASE April 7, 2018 Driver Dies in Single Vehicle Crash in East Baton Rouge Parish Baton Rouge – Shortly after midnight on April 7, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash on Jones Creek Rd. north of Coursey Blvd. in East Baton Rouge Parish. The crash took the life of the unidentified driver. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as the driver fled the scene of a traffic stop in a stolen 2007 Honda Accord. The driver was traveling northbound on Jones Creek when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office. It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample will be taken from the driver for analysis. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that impaired driving continues to be a major problem throughout Louisiana. Whether impaired through alcohol, drugs, or a combination of the two, the consequences of driving while impaired remain the same.
