| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE News Release April 23, 2008 Unrestrained Driver Killed in One Vehicle Crash On April 23, 2008 at about 6:45 am, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a one vehicle fatal crash in Caldwell Parish. The crash occurred on LA 133 at milepost 8.9 when a southbound 2006 Ford truck failed to negotiate a curve. The truck ran off the left side of the roadway where it entered a ditch and struck a culvert. The unrestrained driver was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Caldwell Parish Coroner's office. The driver has been identified as 26 year old Jana S. Strickland from Columbia, LA. Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology tests are pending. Last year in Louisiana, sixty-five percent of the people killed in car crashes were not properly restrained with a seat belt. So far this year, of the fatal crashes investigated by the Troop F Troopers, seventy-seven percent of those killed were not buckled up. The Louisiana State Police want to stress the importance of wearing your seat belt. It's not just the law, but it will save your life. In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated seventeen (17) fatal crashes resulting in eighteen (18) deaths.
