| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE News Release April 28, 2008 Unrestrained Driver Dies in Franklin Parish Crash On April 27, 2008 at about 5:30 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a one vehicle fatal crash in Franklin Parish. The crash occurred on LA 860 at mile post 2.7 just west of LA 17. A 2004 Ford pick-up was traveling west on LA 860 when the driver failed to negotiate a slight left hand curve. The truck traveled onto the right shoulder where the driver overcorrected the vehicle and crossed back across the roadway. The truck then struck a bridge guardrail where it flipped over and partially ejected the unrestrained driver. The driver, identified as 54 year old James E. Pruitt from Rayville, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries he sustained in the crash. Alcohol use is suspected to be a factor and toxicology tests are pending. Pruitt was the only occupant in the truck at the time of the crash. In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated eighteen (18) fatal crashes resulting in nineteen (19) deaths.
