Alcohol Use Suspected in Deadly Head-on Crash
On May 4, 2008 at about 6:10 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a two vehicle fatality crash in Jackson Parish. The crash occurred on Head Rd, two miles south of LA 548, when a south bound 1999 Chevrolet truck crossed the center line and struck a north bound 2004 Ford truck head-on. The passenger of the Chevrolet truck, identified as 25 year old John Goforth from West Monroe, was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 24 year old Justin Tisdale from West Monroe, was not wearing his seat belt, but only received minor injuries in the crash. The driver of the Ford truck, identified as Kenneth Trim from West Monroe, was not injured in the crash.
Both of the drivers are suspected to have been impaired at the time of the crash. Justin Tisdale, the driver of the Chevrolet, was treated for his minor injuries and was then booked at the Jackson Parish Jail for Vehicular Homicide. Kenneth Trim, the driver of the Ford, was booked at the Jackson Parish Jail for Driving While Impaired.
Toxicology tests are pending and the case will be turned over to the Jackson Parish District Attorney's office for prosecution.
