News Release May 27, 2008 Juvenile Dies in Madison Parish Crash
On May 27, 2008 at about 12:50 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a one vehicle fatality crash which resulted in the death of a juvenile passenger. The crash occurred on Interstate 20 at milepost 177.5 in Madison Parish. A 2005 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling west on I-20 when the driver ran off the right side of the road and lost control of the vehicle. The Chevrolet continued off the right side of the road where it struck a large tree.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 43 year old Leslie McGill of Hattiesburg, MS, sustained moderate injuries in the crash. An eight year old male juvenile passenger seated behind the driver also sustained moderate injuries in the crash and both were transported to the Madison Parish Hospital by ambulance. A thirteen year old female passenger, which was seated in the front passenger seat, sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison Parish Coroner's Office.
The driver, Leslie McGill, was issued a citation for Careless Operation. All occupants were properly restrained at the time of the crash. Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor, but routine toxicology tests are pending.
In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated twenty-one (21) fatal crashes resulting in twenty-two (22) deaths. For More Information, Contact:
