Alexandria Man Dies after being Ejected in East Baton Rouge Parish Crash

Baton Rouge – Shortly after 9:00 am on May 8, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatality crash at the intersection of LA 67 (Plank Rd.) and Blount Rd. in East Baton Rouge Parish. The crash took the life of 63 year old John Brady of Alexandria.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Brady was traveling eastbound on Blount Rd. in a 2001 Ford F-150. At the same time, 34 year old Ronald Norman Jr. of Zachary was traveling southbound on LA 67 in an unmarked Baton Rouge Police Department 2013 Dodge Charger. For reasons still under investigation, Brady pulled into the path of Norman’s vehicle and was struck in the southbound lanes of LA 67.

Brady was unrestrained and ejected from his vehicle. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Norman was also unrestrained and sustained moderate injuries as a result of the crash. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample was taken from both drivers for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that while not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
