News Release May 7, 2010 Unrestrained Driver Dies in Ouachita Parish Crash
A West Monroe woman has died in a single vehicle crash in Ouachita Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated the crash this morning just after 9:00 am. A 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling west on LA 616 (Arkansas Rd) near Wallace Dean Rd when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the left side of the road. The SUV then traveled approximately 300 feet before striking a large pine tree and coming to rest.
The driver, identified as 52-year-old Sandra Martin from West Monroe, was transported to Glenwood Hospital by ambulance, but was pronounced dead a short time later. Martin was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Impairment is unknown and routine toxicology tests are pending.
