News Release May 8, 2010 West Carroll Parish Fatal Crash
An Oak Grove woman died in a single vehicle crash in West Carroll Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated the crash on May 7, 2010 at about 6:30 pm. A 1999 Ford truck was traveling south on LA 589 (milepost 11) when the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the road. After leaving the roadway, the truck struck a utility pole and a tree before coming to rest.
The driver, identified as 43-year-old Loretta Chop from Oak Grove, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the West Carroll Parish Coroner's Office.
Alcohol use is suspected to be a factor in the crash and toxicology tests are pending.
In 2010, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated twelve (12) fatal crashes resulting in twelve (12) deaths.
