Impairment Suspected in Fatal Crash

A Bastrop man has died in a one-vehicle crash in Morehouse Parish.

Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated the crash on April 22, 2010 at about 10:05 pm. A 1998 Chrysler Sebring was traveling north on Cooper Lake Rd in Morehouse Parish at an apparent high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle after traveling through a slight curve. The car ran off the road to the left and struck several trees before overturning and coming to rest.

The driver, identified as 33-year-old Stephen Flowers from Bastrop, was ejected from the vehicle in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Morehouse Parish Coroner’s office.

Alcohol use is suspected to be a factor in the crash and toxicology tests are pending. Flowers was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

In 2010, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated nine (9) fatal crashes resulting in nine (9) deaths.
