Fatal Crash Discovered Off I-20 in Madison Parish

A Tallulah man died in a one vehicle crash in Madison Parish.

Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated the crash today at about 4:00 pm. The exact date and time of the crash is unknown at this time, but troopers estimate that the crash occurred sometime Monday night or early Tuesday morning. The investigation revealed that a 2006 Dodge truck was traveling west on Interstate 20, near milepost 180.2, in Madison Parish when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway. The truck then traveled through a ditch embankment and struck several trees. After hitting the trees, the truck continued into a field where it came to rest.

The driver, identified as 57-year-old Lee G. Felts from Tallulah, was partially ejected from the vehicle at some point during the crash. Felts was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison Parish Coroner's Office.

Felts had been reported missing to the Madison Parish Sheriff's Office on Monday, June 28th.

The final resting position of the truck was not visible from the roadway. The crash was discovered after a passing motorist noticed damage to the trees along the interstate.

Felts was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol use is unknown and toxicology tests are pending.

In 2010, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated twenty (20) fatal crashes resulting in twenty-one (21) deaths.
