TROOP A NEWS RELEASE April 9, 2018 Two Vehicle Crash Leaves 14 Year Old Dead in East Baton Rouge Parish East Baton Rouge Parish – Shortly before 7:00 am on April 9, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatality crash at the intersection of LA 67 (Plank Rd.) and Port Hudson Pride Rd. in East Baton Rouge Parish. The crash took the life of 14 year old Eric Anderson of Slaughter. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as 19 year old Ladaja Caines of Slaughter was traveling eastbound on Port Hudson Pride Rd. in a 2003 Honda Accord. At the same time, 42 year old Theodore Wisham of Baton Rouge was traveling northbound on LA 67 in a 2006 Volvo dump truck. For reasons still under investigation, Caines failed to yield at the stop sign and was struck by Whisham’s vehicle in the intersection. Ladaja Caines, Eric Anderson, and her 17 year old passenger were all unrestrained and sustained serious injuries. Eric Anderson was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased. Theodore Wisham was properly restrained and was not injured. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample was taken from both drivers for analysis
