Pedestrian Killed in Ouachita Parish Crash

A pedestrian was killed Wednesday night as he attempted to cross a highway.

The crash occurred on May 20, 2009 at about 8:59 pm on US Hwy 80 near Lowery St in Ouachita Parish. A pedestrian, identified as 17 year old Joseph D. Eppinette, was attempting to cross Hwy 80 from the "Waterfront Grill" parking lot when he was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet Impala. The Impala was traveling west on Hwy 80 in the inside lane when it struck Eppinette.

Eppinette was transported to St Francis Hospital in Monroe, but died from injuries he sustained in the crash.

The driver of the Impala, identified as 45 year old Beverly Jenkins, was not injured in the crash.

No citations have been issued and alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology tests are pending.


In 2009, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated twelve (12) fatal crashes resulting in fourteen (14) deaths.
