TROOP A NEWS RELEASE April 11, 2018 Livingston Woman Dead After Three Vehicle Crash in Livingston Parish Livingston – Shortly before 4:00 pm on April 11, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a three vehicle fatality crash on US 190 west of LA 63 in Livingston Parish. The crash took the life of 44 year old Dana Ricouard of Livingston. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Ricouard was traveling westbound on US 190 in a 1999 Volkswagon Beetle. Ricouard began slowing to make a left turn when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 2017 Ford F-250 driven by 28 year old Brian Templet Jr. of Walker. The impact pushed Ricouard’s vehicle across the center line into the path of a 2006 Mack truck driven by 59 year old Frank Cohn of Kentwood. The vehicles collided head-on in the eastbound lane of US 190. Ricouard was properly restrained, but sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office. Templet and Cohn were properly restrained and were not injured in the crash. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample was taken from all drivers for analysis. This crash remains under investigation and charges are pending. Troopers would like to remind motorists to remain alert and maintain a safe following distance when traveling. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
