Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust on I-20

A Louisiana State Trooper stopped a truck on Interstate 20 and arrested the driver after discovering seventy pounds of marijuana hidden in the vehicle.

On September 9, 2010 at about 3:00 pm, a Louisiana State Police Troop F Trooper stopped a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche for a traffic violation on I-20 in the Calhoun area. Circumstances during the traffic stop, which included the driver giving a false name, led the trooper to request consent to search the truck. The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, consented to the search. Troopers discovered 27 packages, totaling seventy pounds, of suspected marijuana hidden in a speaker box in the rear of the vehicle.

The driver has been identified as 26-year-old Kimberly Archuleta from El Paso, TX. She was arrested and booked at the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (over 60 lbs.) and resisting arrest by providing false information.
