News Release August 16, 2010 Driver Dies in Single Vehicle Crash
A West Monroe man died in a single vehicle crash in Caldwell Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers responded to the crash today at about 12:52 pm. The investigation revealed that a 2006 Freightliner "UPS" delivery van was traveling north on LA 846 approaching a left hand curve when it ran off the right side of the road. The driver then over-corrected back to the left and the vehicle began to slide sideways across both travel lanes before leaving the left side of the roadway. The vehicle then over-turned before coming to rest.
The driver, identified as 41-year-old James Harris from West Monroe, was transported from the scene by ambulance. Harris died while in-transit to the hospital.
Seat belt use is unknown. Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology tests are pending.
In 2010, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated twenty-seven (27) fatal crashes resulting in twenty-nine (29) deaths.
