News Release September 30, 2010 Impairment Suspected in Serious Injury Crash
A West Monroe man is in serious condition after crashing his vehicle in Ouachita Parish.
On September 29, 2010 at about 7:30 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated the crash on LA 557 in Ouachita Parish. The investigation revealed that a 1998 Jeep was traveling south on LA 557 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the left side of the roadway. The Jeep then struck a ditch embankment and became airborne before striking a large tree.
The driver, identified as 38-year-old Dennis Twiner from West Monroe, was transported to St Francis Hospital in Monroe with life-threatening injuries. Twiner was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. The investigating troopers believe that impairment is a factor in the crash and toxicology tests are pending.
Twiner was cited for driving while intoxicated, careless operation, driving with a suspended license, having an expired license plate and an expired inspection sticker.
