News Release October 14, 2010 Ouachita Parish Fatal Crash
A Shreveport man has died after crashing an 18-wheeler in Ouachita Parish.
The crash occurred on October 14, 2010 at about 12:30 am. Troopers investigating the crash determined that a 2011 International tractor was traveling east on Interstate 20 (milepost 119) when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle ran off the road to the left and into the median where it struck a guard rail. The 18-wheeler then continued for about one hundred sixty four feet before coming to rest in the median.
The driver, identified as 46-year-old Donald Gardner from Shreveport, was taken to the St Francis Hospital in Monroe, but was pronounced dead by the attending physician a short time later.
Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Gardner was not wearing his seat belt. The Ouachita Parish Coroner's Office will do an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
In 2010, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated thirty-two (32) fatal crashes resulting in thirty-four (34) deaths.
