News Release August 21, 2010 Unrestrained Driver Seriously Injured in Crash
A Marion man was seriously injured after being ejected from his vehicle in Union Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers responded to the crash on August 20, 2010 at about 6:54 pm. The investigation revealed that a 2005 Nissan truck was traveling south on LA 33 (milepost 33.1) in Union Parish when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the road. The truck then rolled over and struck a utility pole before coming to rest.
The driver, identified as 48-year-old Randy Rowland from Marion, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle in the crash. Rowland suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to the LSU-Shreveport hospital for treatment.
Rowland was issued a citation for careless operation. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor, but routine toxicology tests are pending.
