Edmonson, Superintendent News Release July 21, 2010 Arrest Made in Tensas Parish Homicide On Sunday, July 18, 2010, at approximately 11:00 pm, Carl R. Crain (47 yoa from Winnsboro) was robbed and then shot and killed as he was closing the Hwy 4 Bar in Tensas Parish. Louisiana State Police Detectives and the Tensas Parish Sheriff’s Office began a joint investigation into the homicide and robbery. Investigators from both agencies, along with the Franklin Parish Sheriff’s Office, worked together to develop leads in the case. Technicians from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab processed the physical evidence discovered in the investigation. On Monday, a hand gun was found on a bridge near the Hwy 4 Bar. That discovery led to the arrest of 24-year-old Joshua Hitt from Winnsboro for theft of a firearm. Hitt was booked at the Franklin Parish Detention Center for that offense. During the course of the investigation, Hitt was developed as a suspect in the murder of Crain. On Wednesday, July 21, 2010, warrants were obtained charging Hitt with armed robbery and first degree murder of Crain. Hitt was transferred to the Tensas Parish Detention Center where he is being held without bond. The Tensas Parish Sheriff, Ricky Jones, said that his deputies, state police detectives and the crime lab technicians worked tirelessly to solve this case.
