Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release July 17, 2010 Ouachita Parish Crash Remains under Investigation
A Calhoun woman was found dead and two others suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash in Ouachita Parish this morning.
At approximately 2:20 am on the morning of Saturday, July 17, 2010, a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling north on LA Hwy 3033. As the vehicle attempted to negotiate a slight curve to the right, it crossed the center line and ran off the west side of the roadway. The vehicle then traveled down an embankment and entered Cheniere Lake. The unrestrained driver, thirty-six year old Steven Kelley, and an appropriately restrained two-year old male, were transported to Glenwood Hospital with minor injuries. However, the front seat passenger, twenty-eight year old Jessica Kelley, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her seatbelt usage is unknown.
Impairment is not suspected; however, an autopsy of Jessica Kelley will be conducted in Little Rock, AR. Steven Kelley was cited for careless operation. The crash and cause of death remain under investigation.
