LSP Troopers Apprehend one of Arkansas Most Wanted

Louisiana State Police Troopers arrest an Arkansas man wanted for drug charges.

On February 17, 2010, at about 9:00 am, Louisiana State Police Troopers stopped a Honda Accord on I-20 in Lincoln Parish for following too close. Troopers recognized the driver as a person that was being sought by Arkansas law enforcement authorities based on information sent to LSP in a BOLO or "be on the lookout" message. Troopers had received the BOLO last week and were also informed by Arkansas authorities that the suspect may be in north Louisiana.

Troopers detained the driver, who attempted to present a fraudulent Texas drivers license to avoid arrest. They confirmed that the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Jeremy D. Turner from Magnolia, AR, was a wanted fugitive from Arkansas. Turner has a ten million dollar bond in Arkansas for charges of Distribution of Cocaine. Arkansas authorities suspect that Turner is a major drug trafficker in south Arkansas. Turner also had four failure to appear warrants from a LSP arrest last year in Ouachita Parish.

Troop F Commander, Captain Kevin Reeves, said that this "shows the level of cooperation between the different law enforcement agencies, even from outside this immediate area." He added that "it is a credit to the troopers involved for their awareness of the situation and the apprehension of this suspect".

Turner was booked at the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center for the four failure to appear warrants, following too close, resisting arrest by providing false identification, and for being a fugitive from Arkansas.
