**Update**Alcohol Suspected in Serious Injury Crash

On June 21, 2009 at about 9:24 am, Turner was pronounced dead at the LSU-Shreveport hospital.

In 2009, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated nineteen(19) fatal crashes resulting in twenty-one (21) deaths.

Original release:

A Monroe man was seriously injured when he was ejected from his vehicle in a Franklin Parish crash.

The crash occurred on June 2, 2009 at about 8:50 pm on LA Hwy 869 (Cedar Loop Rd). A 1998 Chevrolet truck was traveling west on LA 869 when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway. The driver then overcorrected and the truck rolled over several times. The truck came to rest upside down in the middle of the road and the driver was totally ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

The driver, identified as 23 year old Jarrett D. Turner from Monroe, was transported to the Franklin Medical Center and later air-lifted to the LSU-Shreveport Hospital for the life threatening injuries he sustained in the crash. Turner was not wearing his seat belt and alcohol use is suspected. Toxicology tests are pending.

Turner was issued a summons for DWI, Careless Operation and Failure to Wear a Seat Belt.
