News Release July 24, 2009 State Police Investigate the Deaths of Two Franklin Parish Residents
The Louisiana State Police are investigating the deaths of two people from Winnsboro.
On July 23, 2009 at about 8:15 pm, Franklin Parish Deputies responded to 118 Muckelrath Rd in Winnsboro in reference to a domestic disturbance call. The 911 call reporting the disturbance came in via a third party. When deputies arrived at the residence, they located two people with apparent gunshot wounds.
Laurie Poland, 33 years old from Winnsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin Parish Coroner's Office. Jason Muckelrath, 33 years old from Winnsboro, was transported to the Franklin Parish Medical Center where he died a short time later.
The preliminary investigation suggests that this is a murder/suicide case. The Louisiana State Police and the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office are continuing their investigation.
