| TROOP A NEWS RELEASE July 29, 2018 Two Dead after Head-on Crash in West Baton Rouge Parish Rosedale – Shortly after 5:00 am on July 29, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatality crash on LA 76 west of LA 413 in West Baton Rouge Parish. The crash took the life of 47-year-old Joseph Marshall and 28-year-old Raphael Pryer of Maringouin. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Marshall was traveling westbound on LA 76 in a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country. At the same time, Pryer was traveling eastbound on LA 76 in a 2007 Nissan Altima. For reasons still under investigation, Marshall crossed the center line and struck Pryer’s vehicle head-on in the eastbound lane of LA 76. Pryer was properly restrained and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the West Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office. Marshall was also properly restrained and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased. Impairment is suspected on the part of Marshall. A toxicology sample was taken from both drivers for analysis.
