News Release June 15, 2009 Franklin Parish Fatal Crash
An early morning crash has killed a Winnsboro man.
The crash occurred on June 15, 2009 at about 2:30 am on Sanders Rd in the Fort Necessity area of Franklin Parish.
A 2001 Pontiac Grand Am was traveling west on Sanders Rd approaching a left hand curve. The driver lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road to the right, and struck a large tree.
The driver, identified as 19 year old Bryan Scobbee from Winnsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin Parish Coroner's Office. Scobbee was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and alcohol use is suspected. Toxicology tests are pending.
Two passengers in the vehicle, identified as Steve Scobbee (22 years old from Winnsboro) and Lydia Johns (22 years old from Sicily Island), received moderate injuries in the crash. Both were transported to the Franklin Medical Center for treatment.
