News Release January 8, 2010 Delhi Police Officer Arrested
A state police investigation has resulted in the arrest of a Delhi Police Officer for malfeasance and bribery charges.
The Richland Parish Sheriff, Charles McDonald requested that the Louisiana State Police conduct an investigation into allegations of misconduct within the Delhi Police Department. Louisiana State Police Detectives and the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office had received numerous complaints alleging corrupt activities by a Delhi Police Officer.
A three month investigation by Louisiana State Police Detectives and the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office has resulted in the arrest of 32-year-old Charles Cooper. The investigation revealed that Cooper had taken money and sexual favors in lieu of making arrests. Cooper was arrested today, just after 1:00 pm, and was booked at the Richland Parish Detention Center.
The investigation is on-going.
