Unrestrained Denham Springs Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash in Livingston Parish

Walker Shortly after 2:00 am on August 5, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle crash on LA 447 south of Interstate 12 in Livingston Parish. The crash took the life of 22-year-old Hayden Bayham of Denham Springs.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Bayham was traveling southbound on LA 447 in a 2016 Chevrolet pickup. Bayham failed to maintain control of his vehicle and ran off the right side of the roadway. Bayham’s vehicle struck multiple trees and began to overturn.

Bayham was not restrained at the time of the crash and was ejected from his vehicle. Bayham sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is suspected to be a factor in this crash. A toxicology sample was taken from Bayham for analysis.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that while not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
