News Release February 7, 2010 Pedestrian Killed in Hit and Run Crash
A West Monroe woman was killed in a hit and run crash as she attempted to cross the road.
The crash occurred on February 6, 2010 at about 8:40 pm on LA 617 (Thomas Rd) near Blazier Lane in West Monroe. A female pedestrian was crossing LA 617 from the east side of the roadway. She had crossed the northbound travel lanes and was attempting to cross the southbound lanes when she was struck by a southbound vehicle. The pedestrian, identified as 34-year-old Rachel Walker from West Monroe, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner's Office.
The vehicle that struck Rachel Walker continued south on LA 617 towards LA 34 without stopping. The vehicle was reported to possibly be a red or maroon small SUV type vehicle. The vehicle may have damage to the front head lamp and hood area.

In 2010, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated two (2) fatal crashes resulting in two (2) deaths.
