Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust

Two men from Texas have been arrested for drug charges following a traffic stop in Lincoln Parish.

On August 24, 2009 at about 6:38 pm a Louisiana State Police Trooper stopped a 1992 Chevrolet truck for a traffic violation on Interstate 20 (milepost 87) in Lincoln Parish. During his initial contact with the driver and passenger, the trooper noted that both men appeared to be very nervous and gave inconsistent stories regarding their travel plans. The trooper requested and received consent to search the vehicle.

The trooper located several packages of suspected cocaine concealed in the walls of the truck. A total of 23.7 lbs of suspected cocaine was seized.

The driver, identified as 42 year old Jose Vicuna from Houston, TX, was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for Improper Lane Use, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute and Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine.

The passenger, identified as 23 year old Rafael Iniguez from Houston was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute and Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine.

The cocaine has an estimated value of about $280,000.00.
