News Release November 24, 2009 Richland Parish Crash Injures Monroe City Mayor and MPD Officer
The City of Monroe Mayor, a Monroe Police Department Officer and another citizen were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday evening in Richland Parish.
On November 23, 2009 around 5:47 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a two-vehicle crash in Richland Parish which occurred at the intersection of LA Hwy 15 and LA Hwy 133. The investigation revealed a 2006 Chevrolet Impala was traveling north on LA Hwy 15 when it was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoe had been traveling north on LA Hwy 133 and failed to yield at its intersection with LA Hwy 15.
The Impala is a City of Monroe vehicle and was being driven by Monroe Police Officer Reginald Brown. Brown sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to St. Francis Hospital for treatment.
The Monroe City Mayor, Jamie Mayo, was a passenger in the Impala at the time of the crash. Mayor Mayo received minor injuries and was also taken to St. Francis Hospital.
The driver of the Tahoe, identified as 36-year-old Linda Wiley from Rayville, received minor injuries in the crash. She was taken to St. Francis Hospital for treatment. Wiley was issued citations for Failure to Yield and Driving under Suspension.
