| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release September 10, 2009
Child Safety Seat Check Event in Monroe The Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, Kohl’s and Louisiana State Police are sponsoring a free child safety seat check-up event at the Monroe Kohl’s, on Saturday, September 12, 2009 from noon – 3 pm. On average, nine (9) out of ten (10) child restraints are misused. The average restraint logs two (2) to three (3) errors and these errors cross all socioeconomic and educational lines. These misuses may be minor in nature; however, some misuses are so severe that the restraint may be rendered useless. Therefore, it is important to have each and every child restraint evaluated by a certified, child passenger safety technician. On Saturday, September 12, 2009, parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to get a free, personalized evaluation by certified technicians, as well as learn how to correctly install their restraint(s). This check-up event is the final requirement of the newly-graduated Child Passenger Safety Technicians’ Course participants. This week’s class has been sponsored in part by: Kohl’s, Brookshire’s, Monroe Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Ken’s Coffee, Sparks Nissan/Kia of Monroe, Interstate Dodge of West Monroe, Fox’s Pizza (Monroe), Ice House America, Monroe Police Department, and Opus Broadcasting. The support expressed by these sponsors demonstrates the importance of the child passenger safety mission. WHO: All parents and caregivers of children aged 12 & under.
